Beginner’s Learn To Weave Workshops
Weaving is often taught as a set of rules. You know, even tension, straight edges and perfect structure. Balanced weave, I’m looking at you.
And yes, while technical understanding matters, weaving is also something else. It’s expression, it’s rhythm, it’s experimentation and instinct. As a textile artist, my relationship with weaving has always been creative first. Technique supports my work but doesn’t confine it.
That philosophy is at the heart of my Beginner’s Learn To Weave Workshop.
Yes, we’ll talk about how warp & weft interact, how tension affects form, how fibre choice affects texture and movement. I’ll give tips to keep your edges straight if that’s what you want. But I want you to experiment, to respond intuitively, to trust your eye and your gut when it says to weave with that fluffy lime green yarn!
You won’t just leave the workshop with your woven piece, and hopefully some new friends, but also with a growing confidence in your own creativity.
This workshop is ideal if:
You’re curious about weaving but don’t want a rigid, pattern-based class
You’re drawn to texture, fibre, and tactile making
You want to explore weaving as an art form, not just a craft
