Christine Jones is a textile artist currently living and working in Ballina, NSW, Australia. Her practice centres on hand knitting and weaving, exploring the expressive and tactile possibilities of fibre.

Knitting has taken her internationally, attending workshops in France and conferences in New York. One of her knitted dresses was selected as a finalist in an international knitwear design competition and featured on the runway.

More recently, her focus has shifted toward weaving on a Japanese Saori loom. Rooted in a philosophy that values individuality and emotional expression, Saori weaving allows each piece to emerge as a unique reflection of the maker. Moving away from rigid patterns and uniformity, her work embraces spontaneity, experimentation, and personal narrative.

Living in a subtropical environment, she often weaves outdoors, drawing inspiration from her surroundings. The resulting textiles carry organic patterns and textures that reflect these quiet, immersive moments.

While her preference is for natural fibres, she remains open to any material that offers compelling colour or texture. She is also an avid op shop hunter, often sourcing unusual and unexpected yarns to incorporate into her work.

Inspired by the sensory qualities of her materials, she extends her practice into wearable art, creating garments from her handwoven cloth that embody both form and function.
