Love the idea of handwoven clothing but not sure how it fits with your personal style? You don’t need a new wardrobe. Start with the one you already have.
I love clothes with texture, interesting fabrics and a little bit of individuality. But I also know that when people think of handwoven clothing, they often picture a particular look: flowing skirts, lots of colour, layered jewellery and a distinctly bohemian feel. And that can look fantastic. But -
What if it’s not your style? You might assume handwoven clothing isn’t for you.
I’m here to tell you otherwise.
Handwoven clothing can be relaxed, modern, understated or colourful. It can work with jeans and a t-shirt just as easily as it can with a more adventurous outfit. You don’t need to change your style to wear it. You just need to find a piece that feels like you.
Over the next few days I’m going to show you 3 ways that you can introduce handwoven clothing into your wardrobe without going full boho.
If you wear black, add texture instead of colour.
Is your wardrobe a sea of black? Do you love the simplicity of an all-black outfit and have no desire to introduce a rainbow of colour?
Perfect. You can still wear handwoven clothing.
Instead of thinking about colour, think about texture. A black handwoven jacket adds depth and interest while keeping your look monochrome. Wear it over a simple black top with black jeans or tailored trousers. Add your usual boots, sneakers or accessories, and you’re done.
The texture of the woven fabric becomes the feature. You get something distinctive and individual without changing the colour palette you love.
This is one of my favourite things about handwoven clothing: it doesn’t always have to shout to make an impact.
The styling formula: black handwoven jacket + black basics + your everyday boots/shoes
It’s still your style, just with an extra layer of texture.
